Queen City Theatre Company continues auditions
for “Side Show”
February 8th and 9th, 2008 - Open Call (non-Union)
Side Show, the musical, is based on the true story of Siamese twins Violet and Daisy Hilton who became stars during the Depression, Side Show is a moving portrait of two women joined at the hip whose extraordinary bondage brings them fame but denies them love. Told almost entirely in song, the show follows their progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie Freaks.
Â
The Hilton sisters lived and died in Charlotte, NC and they currently rest in peace in a cemetery off Freedom Drive. The presentation of Side Show in the Queen City is not only the first time the musical is produced here but is also a piece of local history that QCTC is looking forward to bring to stage.
