Paying Gig

A friend has contacted me about a private party for about 100 teenagers (male and female) in a private home in the Kannapolis area looking for a couple of entertainers.  I am already booked so I was not able to do it so I’m passing it on to anyone who might be interested.  This is a paid position but you would need to contact them concerning time commitment and pay.

They are looking for two particular entertainers.  The entertainers could be either male or female.  One would need to perform as a “fortune teller”.  The other they are looking for would be a “Henna artist”, someone to do “upscale face painting” for some teenagers.  Not pumpkins and flowers and ghost but something a little more “upscale”.

If you are interested, please call Phyllis Beaver at Cannon Village, Kannapolis.  Her phone number is 704-938-3200.  Let her know you found the info from Tommy Allen Taylor.

Hope someone is available to help them out.  Should be a great Halloween party!

Children’s Theatre of Charlotte Announces Additional Weekend of Shows for “The Wizard of Oz”

Due to unprecedented audience demand, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte is thrilled to add a record-breaking weekend of shows to its sold out run of “The Wizard of Oz”. This spectacular stage version featuring the music and lyrics of the classic motion picture is the opening production of Children’s Theatre’s 60th anniversary season.

The additional two shows mark the first time in the Theatre’s history that a production has extended to a fifth weekend. Public attendance for “The Wizard of Oz” is expected to top 10,000, making this the best attended single production in the Theatre’s history.

Critics have also responded enthusiastically. “In this wonderful ‘Wizard of Oz,’ theater lovers of Charlotte, young and old, have found our heart’s desire — like Dorothy — right in our own backyard,” wrote Julie York Coppens in The Charlotte Observer. Creative Loafing’s Perry Tannenbaum added his praise, commenting that “this adaptation of the familiar screen classic still packs plenty of powerful dramatic wallop.”

Tickets are available for the following added performances:

Saturday, Oct. 27                           1:00 pm - ADDED SHOW!

Sunday, Oct. 28                             2:00 pm - ADDED SHOW!
