Argentinean Tango / Anabella Lenzu (NYC):  Acquire both a repertoire or tango vocabulary of movement and the leading and following techniques in a close embrace.  No previous Tango experience or partner required. Topics include: correct posture, technical control, rhythms and styles.

Tap / Alyssa Mackenzie from Footnotes Tap Ensemble (Raleigh, NC):

We invite you to come and explore the world of tap choreography while also discovering its historical significance.  Learn a selection from the Footnotes repertoire and gain a better understanding of why we love tap dancing!  All levels welcome, but some training is recommended.

Humphrey/ Limon based Modern Dance / Anabella Lenzu (NYC): We will experience the principle “Fall and Recovery,” as a metaphor for how the human being resists gravity and reality.  The emphasis will be an exploration of the use of space, imagination, coordination and body control & how breath affects movement.

Mixed-Modern Dance / Enrique Cruz deJesus, Artistic Director of Alpha Omega Theatrical Dance Company (NYC):

Enrique Cruz DeJesus’ style of choreography and teaching is described as a mixture of modern techniques and urban folk styles. It is modern dance, based in the Horton and Graham techniques, and infuses ballet, jazz, and Afro-Latin movement. Mr. Cruz DeJesus emphasizes the importance of the well-rounded dancer and his work challenges dancers to go beyond their comfort zone of a single or familiar style of movement to find value in various styles combined.

Aerial Dance Fabric Workshop / Laura Cannon and Nicole Whiteside from Blue Lapis Light (Austin, TX): The class will focus on basic techniques on aerial fabric. This will include strength building, stretching, climbing and movement techniques on the cloth.  There is an 8 person maximum for the workshop.

**All registration must be done in advanced for the workshop.  No walk-ups.  All participants above the age of 18.**

Contemporary Dance / Karola Lüttringhaus from alban elved dance company (Wilmington, NC): Karola creates athletic contemporary dance works, which seek to shape meaning from the rich array of emotional experience. Her work is fiercely physical, tracing the changeable electricity of thought and sensation that underlies human interaction and interpersonal relationships.  Frequently incorporating technologies, digital media, aerial work and outdoor performances into her dance works she expands the boundaries of dance performance, creating startling and evocative psychological landscapes.
