I know it has nothing to do with theatre, or Charlotte, but get over it. The new banner up at the top of the page links to the PokerStars website, and information about a charity poker tournament to help raise global awareness of the genocide going on in Darfur. This is one of those globally important things that we can chip in a little bit and help out with. PokerStars is giving over a million bucks to Not On Our Watch, a charity created by Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Brad Pitt and George Clooney to raise money for Darfur. PokerStars is also hosting a charity tournament next Sunday, May 27th, where all the money spent in the tournament will be donated to NOOW, and PokerStars will also match the donation! So if you have the time, and a little cash, click the link, sign up for a PokerStars account, and donate the money to help fight genocide.

This poem was written about the Holocaust, but it rings true any time there are atrocities committed in the world and we do nothing to speak out against them.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
