Charlotte, NC - Theatre Charlotte announces the opening of “Nouveau“, the fourth show of the inaugural season of its new “Stage 501” series.
“Nouveauâ€, is an evening of four, new, one-act plays. The authors are Don Cook, Sam Post, Ann Marie Oliva, and Laura Pfizenmayer, all members of “Playwrights in Progressâ€, Theatre Charlotte’s resident writing group. Directors are Jim Esposito, Corey Mitchell, Glenn Weyler, and Jim Yost.

“Stage 501“, produces contemporary classics by writers such as Beckett, Ionesco, and Pinter, as well as writers from diverse, ethnic backgrounds. Also presented are new works by Theatre Charlotte’s resident writing group, Playwrights in Progress
. These plays will be presented on a thrust stage in the Theatre Charlotte lobby, except for the June presentation of “Anna In The Tropicsâ€, to be read in Spanish, on the main stage.
Theatre Charlotte, Charlotte’s community theatre, is the city’s oldest arts organization. Since its founding in 1927, the Theatre has provided opportunities for actors, directors, ushers, technicians and audience members to create and enjoy theatre. Utilizing the talents of the area’s volunteer force, Theatre Charlotte produces a five-show Mainstage season of musicals, comedies and dramas, as well as smaller-scale productions in an informal atmosphere. During the past seventy nine years, these factors have combined to create a reputation for excellence unrivaled in the Southeast.
