Shakespeare Carolina, York County’s only classically-based theatre company, announces its return to performance with The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, to be performed on the green in downtown Rock Hill near the Main Street Parking Deck April 19-28. The show will be performed Thursday – Saturday nights, weather permitting. Audiences are encouraged to bring blankets, folding chairs and picnics for an evening of family fun with classical theatre. The Taming of the Shrew is directed by Shakespeare Carolina founder Chris O’Neill, and marks the return of this crowd favorite which served to debut the company in 1998. This production features NC Theatre Conference President John Hartness as Petruchio opposite Shelley Jiles as Katharina. The cast also features many familiar faces to Charlotte audiences such as Karen Surprise (Bianca), Drew Nowlin (Lucentio), Jonathan Ewart (Hortensio), Jimmy Cartee (Gremio) and Randal Chou (Vincentio).
