â€Little Shop of Horrorsâ€
March 24 and 25, 2008 at 7:00 pm
The show is directed and choreographed by Ron Chisholm, who has directed and/or choreographed over 130 shows for Charlotte Rep., Opera Carolina, Children’s Theatre, Spirit Square and Theatre Charlotte, most recently, last season for “Smokey Joe’s Caféâ€. The music director is Ellen Robison, who was music director for Opera House Theatre Co. in Wilmington for thirteen years and is now the Minister of Program at Myers Park United Methodist Church. She was music director for last year’s “Smokey Joe’s Caféâ€.
Roles are available for an ethnically diverse cast of; five men ages 20 – 60; four women, ages 16 – 40, and one offstage singing voice of Audrey II. Puppeteers are also needed. All auditionees should come prepared with a “Broadway-style†song and the sheet music, and come dressed comfortably, as some dance will be taught.

A down-and-out skid row floral assistant becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon “Audrey II†grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore who offers him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite.Â
One of the longest-running Off-Broadway shows of all time, thanks to a score by the songwriting team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, who redefined the animated musical film with Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,†“Beauty and the Beast†and “Aladdin.â€Â Tuneful and hilarious, with tongue planted firmly in cheek, this affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies never fails to entertain.
Theatre Charlotte is the city’s oldest arts organization. Since its founding in 1927, the Theatre has provided opportunities for actors, directors, ushers, technicians and audience members to create and enjoy theatre. Queen City Theatre Company will be holding auditions for several roles in the musical “Side Show.”
Searching for an African American male for the role of Jake - aged 25-40 with a soulful tenor voice.
Men ages 18-50
Females aged 18-50, specifically belting sopranos for the role of Violet Hilton.
The cast of “Side Show” consists of 10 women and 10 men, ages 16-50.

Side Show, the musical, is based on the true story of Siamese twins Violet and Daisy Hilton who became stars during the Depression, Side Show is a moving portrait of two women joined at the hip whose extraordinary bondage brings them fame but denies them love. Told
almost entirely in song, the show follows their progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit and to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie Freaks.
The Hilton sisters lived and died in Charlotte, NC and they currently rest in peace in a cemetery off Freedom Drive. The presentation of Side Show in the Queen City is not only the first time the musical is produced here but is also a piece of local history that QCTC is looking forward to bring to stage.
Queen City Theatre Company is excited to announce auditions for this musical, “Side Show ” by Bill Russell and Henry Krieger. Â The production will be directed by QCTC Artistic Director Glenn Griffin, choreographed by Eddie Mabry and musically directed by Marty Gregory.
Scott Pacitti from Actor’s Crib and the Chuckleheads will be presenting improvisation workshops on Tuesday, March 18th and Thursday, March 20th from 7:30 to 9:00pm. Â No experience is necessary to participate. Â $5 donation admission.

Information for both workshops…
The admission fee is $5. Â This fee applies to both those who are attending with the potential of joining the cast or those participating for fun/learning.
Future workshops for potential castmembers will be free. Â Those who plan on attending both workshops (Tuesday and Thursday) will be charged $5 total for participation in both workshops.
Your prompt arrival before or at 7:30 will be greatly appreciated. Â If you have to arrive later than 7:30p due to work or personal conflicts, please let Scott know.
